Mold removal
Mold removal that fixes the moisture, too
Mold grows where moisture stays. We find where the water is coming from, seal off the area, remove the mold and dry everything out so it doesn't come back.
Signs to watch for
Do you have a mold problem?
Mold isn't always easy to see. These are the most common signs we're called about.
A musty smell
Often the first sign, especially in basements, closets and under sinks.
Spots or stains
Black, green or white spots on walls, ceilings, wood or behind furniture.
After a leak
Any area that stayed wet for more than a day or two, even if it looks dry now.
Damp basements and crawlspaces
High humidity, condensation on pipes or windows, peeling paint.
Attics
Poor ventilation or a roof leak can grow mold on the underside of the roof deck.
Warped or soft materials
Swollen trim, bubbling floors or drywall that feels soft.
What happens next
How we remove mold
Inspect and find the moisture source
Mold always has a water source: a leak, condensation or humidity. If we don't fix that, the mold comes back.
Contain the area
We seal the work area with plastic sheeting and use air filtration so spores don't spread to the rest of your home.
Remove the mold
We remove moldy materials that can't be cleaned, like drywall and insulation, and clean the surfaces that can.
Clean up thoroughly
HEPA vacuuming and wiping down the area to pick up the dust and spores the work leaves behind.
Dry and help prevent it coming back
We dry the area, check the readings and tell you what to watch for, like humidity levels or a slow leak.
Questions
Mold questions we hear a lot
Can I just clean it with bleach?
Bleach can lighten mold on hard surfaces, but it doesn't fix the moisture that caused it, and it doesn't work well on drywall or wood. A small spot on a bathroom tile is one thing. If it's bigger than a small patch, keeps coming back or smells musty, call us.
How long does mold removal take?
Most jobs take one to a few days, depending on how much mold there is and where. We'll give you a plan and a timeline after we look at it.
Can I stay in my home?
In most cases, yes. Containment keeps the work area sealed off from the rest of the house. We'll tell you if there's any reason to stay out of a room or the home.
Will it come back?
Not if the moisture problem is fixed. That's why we start by finding the source and finish by drying the area and checking the readings.
